Welcome to Mkomazi!
Still relatively undiscovered, yet very accessible, Mkomazi National Park is the perfect place to get off the beaten tourist trail and experience Tanzanian wilderness at its best. Mkomazi is located near the town of Same, just 110km from Moshi, 140km from Kilimanjaro International Airport and 450km from Dar es Salaam.
The best time for game viewing in Mkomazi is during the dry season, from June to November, when animals congregate around the waterholes. But the park can be visited all year round as most roads are all weather, and across the seasons a variety of different species may be encountered, particularly migratory birds. Even in the hot season from December to March it cools down pleasantly at night due to it’s altitude of 800-1.000m.
There are a number of special and public campsites within Mkomazi National Park. The special campsites are Dindira and Supabowl. Booking is mandatory for these sites and can be done through email@example.com or the Mkomazi Park Warden Tourism firstname.lastname@example.org. The public campsites are Zange (about 1km from the HQ and main entrance gate) and Maore campsites. Available facilities at Zange include bathrooms, toilets, kitchen and solar power. It is not necessary to book the public campsites.
