The Retreat
Canvas, teak, and the best view in the park
We built the retreat on Dindira Hill for one reason: the view from it. Seven tents, an open restaurant, and a quiet viewpoint, facing the waterhole where the park gathers to drink – close enough to hear the elephants at night, comfortable enough to watch them from bed.
Highlight
- An exclusive camp of 7 tents - often with the park to yourselves
- Wildlife from your balcony - every tent overlooks the plains or the waterhole, where herds gather below camp with Kilimanjaro on the horizon
- Comfort in the wild spacious tents with walk-in rain showers, flushing toilets, and solar-powered sockets throughout
- Farm-to-table dining - meals prepared from locally sourced produce, much of it from our own organic Kimango Farm
- A light footprint - 100% solar powered and built from locally sourced materials
We are obsessed with details.
Every tent is built for the view:
A bed facing the plains, a private balcony for morning coffee as the light comes up, and canvas walls that let the sounds of the park in while keeping the comforts of a lodge around you.
Spend the day out on game drives and walking safaris, or don’t – from your veranda or our viewpoint above camp, the wildlife comes to you.
Dine above the plains
Our open restaurant, bar, and private viewpoint sit on the ridge above the tents, looking across the Pare Mountains toward Kilimanjaro. Three-course dinners from the farm, a full bar, a telescope, and a fire pit for the end of the day.
Plains view tents look west across the open Dindira plains;
dam view tents face the waterhole itself, where the wildlife come to drink.
